2003 Wildland Fire Information
Over 310,000 acres have burned and
42 structures (including over nine homes) have been destroyed in
wildland fires this summer in Idaho. Prepare for fires by being

News:
- Sept 11: City of Bonners Ferry has declared an Emergency.
The city is requesting assistance from the Idaho Dept. of Water
Resources and Dept. of Environmental Quality to assess alternative
water sources and evaluate the impact on the water system for
water quality. Myrtle Creek drainage is the sole source water supply for Bonners Ferry and the
Kootenai Tribe. The Kootenai River with two pumps is being
used for the secondary water source for the community drinking
water.
Boundary County has made an Emergency Declaration, requesting
assistance from the state to supplement local efforts involved in
the protection of resources.
- Idaho
Statesman - There have been 2 evacuations in Salmon near the
Withington FIre. The Sunset Heights subdivision´s water
filtration system and aboveground piping were damaged Aug. 16th. Lemhi
County was hauling 10,000 gallons of water a day.

incident is comprised of the Pleasant, Rhodes, Beaver Lake, Siah Lake, Moose Lake,

Fish, Queen Creek, North Howard and Hopeful 2 fires. Structure
protection was in place for 61 residences and 51 commercial properties.
